Welcome to the first post of my blog Autograph Collecting with Danny B. I will be posting attempts to secure autographs through the mail, in person and through trading cards. I will also post my failures.

The very first autograph that I obtained was when I was 10 years old. My dad was the local campaign manager for our 36th President Lyndon Baines Johnson. President Johnson was flying into New Orleans to give a speech at the Jung Hotel on October 9, 1964. My dad made a sign that stated “MR PRESIDENT PLEASE SIGN MY SIGN. Dad was able to get us on the tarmac at the airport. We were able to meet President Johnson as he exited the plane. What I can remember is that he came straight to me and shook my hand. I remember he had a band aid on his right hand. He took my sign and autographed it. Later I had several reports come up to me to get my name. Below is what my dad cut from the sign. Dad later obtained the autograph of then Vice President Hubert Humphrey and Louisiana Governor John J. McKeithan. Therefore these are autographs #1, 2 & 3 in my collection.
