Kittle was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1977 out of high school. He played in the Dodgers minor league system till he was released in 1978. Kittle was then signed by the Chicago White Sox in 1979. He played in the White Sox minors till 1985 when he was called up at the end of 1982 and played in 20 games. Kittle played with the White Sox till 1986 when he was traded to the New York Yankees. He was released by the Yankees at the end of 1988. Kittle signed with the Cleveland Indians and played with them in 1989. At the end of 1989, he was released by the Indians and resigned with the Chicago White Sox. In July of 1990, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles. He was released by the Orioles in December 1990. Kittle finished his career with the Chicago White Sox in 1991.
