Autograph #246 – Part of our autograph collection is this autographed letter we sent to Kim Batiste with the Philadelphia Phillies back in May of 2004. We don’t know when we received his response but he sent back several items that were autographed.
Batiste was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 3rd round of the 1987 MLB June Amateur Draft from St. Amant HS (St. Amant, LA). He made his major league debut for the Phillies on September 8, 1991 against the Houston Astros. He played in 10 games that year. He played in 187 games for the Phillies from 1992-1994. Batiste was released by the Phillies at the start of the 1995 season. He signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles in June of 1995. He did not play in any MLB games for the Orioles in 1995. Batiste was then drafted by the San Francisco Giants from the Baltimore Orioles in the 1995 rule 5 draft. He ended up playing in 54 games for the Giants in 1996. He never made it to the majors after that playing for several Independent teams as well as the Chinese Professional Baseball League. His last go at it was in 2003.
Batiste died in 2020.
