Autograph #257 – This autograph has been in my collection since 2018. Schwaner was my vice-principal in high school at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, LA. When I sent my request, Schwaner had already served as the head coach of baseball at Rummel, Brother Martin High School finishing his career at the University of New Orleans in 1999. Schwaner is still with us today at age 86!

Schwaner signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals out of Loyola New Orleans in 1959. He played in the Cardinals minors till 1962 getting as high as AA ball. When he retired from baseball in 1962, he went to work at Rummel High as a math teacher and baseball coach.
