Martis was signed as a free agent by the San Francisco Giants in 2004. In July 2006, he was traded to the Washington Nationals. Martis made his pitching debut on September 4, 2008 against the Atlanta Braves. He pitched in 4 more games that year for the Nationals. In 2009, Martis pitched in 15 games for the Nationals. From 2010 to 2011, he was pitching in the Nationals minor league system. After 2011, he was given his release. He bounced around in various minor league system from 2012-2013 when he was called up by the Minnesota Twins. He pitched in 6 games for the Twins and was released. Martis spent the rest of his career in the minors, Independent teams, and various foreign leagues in Venezuela, Japan, and the Netherland. He pitched for the Curacao Neptunus in the Dutch Major League in 2025 going 12-2.
