Autographs #273 & 274 – Part of our collection are these autographs from MLB player Bob Aspromonte. I don’t know when we wrote to him, where or when we received them. Both are on copy paper but at least he signed them.

Aspromonte was signed as a free agent in 1956 by the Brooklyn Dodgers. He made his MLB debut that year playing on 1 game for the Dodgers on September 19th vs the St Louis Cardinals. In 1957 & 1958, he spent the season in the Dodgers minors. During that period, the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles. He was called up again in 1960. On October 10, 1961. Aspromonte was drafted by the Houston Colt .45s from the Los Angeles Dodgers as the 3rd pick in the 1961 expansion draft. He played with the Colts/Astros till December 4, 1968 when he was traded by the Houston Astros to the Atlanta Braves. He played with the Braves till they traded him after the 1970 season to the New York Mets. He played for the Mets till he retired in 1971. Aspromonte collected 1,103 hits in his major league career, with 135 doubles, 26 triples and 60 home runs. Aspromonte is an inaugural member of the Houston Astros Hall of Fame.
