Johnson was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2nd round (36th overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft out of Oregon State University. He played with the Bengals till 2010. In 2011, the Bengals traded Johnson to the New England Patriots. He played one season with the Patriots who then released him. During his NFL career, Johnson caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.
