Abdur-Rahim was drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the 1st round (3rd pick, 3rd overall) of the 1996 NBA Draft out of the University of California, Berkley. He made his NBA debut on November 1, 1996. He played with the Grizzlies till June 27, 2001 when he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. He played with the Hawks till February 9, 2004 when he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. On August 12, 2005, he signed as a free agent with the Sacramento Kings. He retired with the Kings on September 22, 2008. In his 12 year NBA career, he played in 830 games averaging 18.1 points per game scoring 15,028 points. He is the current president of the NBA G-League.
